If you are a resident or visitor of Lewisburg, it will take all but a few moments before the loud sound of tractor trailers overshadows a conversation. Along our historic street, dozens of businesses are places where people gather, but often it is difficult to enjoy your dining or shopping with the sound and distraction the trucks offer. We want our streets, stores, homes, and town to be as hospitable as it can be and for that, we need the trucks to stop using Market Street, unless they need to.
Beyond just being annoying, our businesses, homes, and historic buildings can feel the effects of the increase in traffic. Our hospitality, structures, health, safety, and more are being affected by this, but we can do something to change it! Below find all of our FAQ's and a form to donate so we can bring in a firm to help us do a study on all the effects the trucks are causing. Here is a link to the Market Street Traffic Study and Appendices. Scroll down to near the bottom of the page to find the Study. https://www.lewisburgborough.org/category/uncategorized/ Here are two (2) Recommendations from the Study related to noise: 8b. Review the Borough’s noise-related ordinances and identify any modifications that should be made to address vehicle-related adverse noise impacts (muffler modifications, loud music, motorcycles, etc.). Implementation: Revise ordinances as needed, and post appropriate signage. 9. Work with the Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department to prioritize enforcement along the Market Street Corridor and throughout the Borough of Lewisburg. |
