Lewisburg in Lights

Picture

To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
To know the dark, go dark.  Go without sight,
and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.

Wendell Berry
November and the beginning of December in 2022 saw the return once again of Lewisburg in Lights, with illumination throughout downtown Lewisburg and Hufnagle Park! Lights are wrapped around lampposts, and the centerpiece this year is the gazebo in the park, with a special display inside the roof by Andy Seal. Also located in the park are several lighting sculptures featuring winter-themed characters. December 1st was the grand reveal of the display, featuring storytelling by Ann Keeler Evans, music by Andy Seal, and wonderful lessons on the night sky by Dr. Jacqueline Villadsen.  We have some great pictures below and on our Facebook page!

Bringing Light and Connection to Lewisburg and the Region

There is light at the end of this tunnel!

We all were plunged into something we were not prepared for and we've all been changed from the things we've experienced this year. There have been missed opportunities, loved ones who have passed away, and fears that have been made a reality. It has been a tough year and one that we would all like to move forward from.  We want to take some time to honor the things we have experienced from this year, but also to look forward to the light ahead.

Join us to remember this past year and share our hopes going forward.

How can you participate?
  • Join us to help us re-imagine the lights for this coming dark time.
  • Share this message with as many people in our community that you can!
  • Volunteer! We need volunteers to help with the lighting and setting up of the luminaries

That Feeling

You know that feeling you get when the downtown trees light up each year? This year we hope to expand that light – and feeling – across the community to help lift our spirits and keep downtown thriving.

In November, Lewisburg ignites the senses with an energetic atmosphere of lights captivating window art and the hustle and bustle of downtown shoppers. From late-night shopping and child-focused entertainment to tantalizing beverage and culinary delights, Lewisburg is a visual destination to safely sip, shop, savor, and support.

Our Vision

This year let’s expand the magic. The CommUnity Zone and the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership plan to collaborate with non-profits, area businesses and inspired individuals to develop and host a series of uplifting “wow” events through the cold dark winter months. We will set an example of an inclusive thriving community with striking visual displays, music, speakers, and yes, more lights to command the attention of both visitors and existing community members.

Our hope is to remind everyone what a gem Lewisburg is while deepening our connections, creating opportunities to collaborate, and most importantly modeling what an inclusive and thriving community can look like. In addition to brightening up our town with more lighting, our additional goals are to:
  • Safely increase the number of people downtown by making Lewisburg an exciting destination one would consider for an uplifting experience.
  • Encourage businesses, non-profits, community members, the university and the hospital communities, and others to collaborate.
