You know that feeling you get when the downtown trees light up each year? This year we hope to expand that light – and feeling – across the community to help lift our spirits and keep downtown thriving. In November, Lewisburg ignites the senses with an energetic atmosphere of lights captivating window art and the hustle and bustle of downtown shoppers. From late-night shopping and child-focused entertainment to tantalizing beverage and culinary delights, Lewisburg is a visual destination to safely sip, shop, savor, and support. Whether approaching Lewisburg from the bridge or admiring Market Street from Hufnagle Par, there’s something quite magical about our holiday lights. They can lift our spirits, influence behavior, and accentuate our downtown. This year let’s expand the magic. The CommUnity Zone and the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership plan to collaborate with non-profits, area businesses and inspired individuals to develop and host a series of uplifting “wow” events through the cold dark winter months. We will set an example of an inclusive thriving community with striking visual displays, music, speakers, and yes, more lights to command the attention of both visitors and existing community members. Engage with us to invest in our community’s future. We want to purchase many more lights, invite musicians and create visual displays throughout town. Support us with a nontaxable donation that we will publicly recognize. Gold Supporter ( $500-1000 +) Silver Supporter ( $200-499 +) Supporter ( $25-199 +) If you would like to make a financial contribution at any level, you can donate through PayPal or mail a check to the CommUnity Zone at 417 Market Street, Lewisburg, PA 17837. We are creating teams that will focus on different aspects, like design, specific spaces in town, music, poetry etc. If you have any ideas you'd like to share, or if you would like to join one of our teams, we’d love to hear from you at community.zone.lewisburg@gmail.com. Our hope is to remind everyone what a gem Lewisburg is while deepening our connections, creating opportunities to collaborate, and most importantly modeling what an inclusive and thriving community can look like. In addition to brightening up our town with more lighting, our additional goals are to: Safely increase the number of people downtown by making Lewisburg an exciting destination one would consider for an uplifting experience. Encourage businesses, non-profits, community members, the university and the hospital communities, and others to collaborate. Sincerely, Cynthia Peltier Director The League of Women Voters of the Lewisburg Area on-line Voters Guide is now available. This Voters Guide is for the November 3, 2020 General Election.
